What’s inside an Ilocos empanada?

Monggo, minced cabbage (it used to be grated green papaya but the women were complaining it hurt their fingers when they grated the small bits in the end and it ruined their manicure – I made up the last part of course), a longganisa, and a raw egg. All wrapped in an orange dough and deep fried to orange-y perfection. Best dipped in sukang Iloco.

It’s a well spent Php30.

Here’s a primer on other Ilocos fare you could try.

Enjoy.
