Had a Not-Quite-The-End-Of-The-Year celebration via a quick getaway to Virgin Beach Resort in Laiya, Batangas.
For Here Comes The Bride fans out there, yes, this is where that fun, fun movie was shot.
Nothing virginal about the beach; the sand wasn’t powder-y fine, nor was the water azure blue. But we had the stretch all to ourselves, far from the crowd and the incessant sounds of the city, so that made up for everything else.
Things turn a bit magical at night, when the tree lanterns are turned on. And the buffet spread (which I failed to take a photo of) wasn’t bad at all.
We chose the non-air conditioned cottage, for budgetary purposes. It was cold at night, so there was no need for air conditioning. There were five of us, and we paid Php2,500 each for the overnight stay (Php1,100 for the cottage + Php1,400 for three buffet meals – lunch upon arrival, dinner and breakfast the next day).
Water for rinsing your feet before going up the cottage.
We swam, we ate, we slept, we laughed and we did it all over again.
